We are looking for team players, decision makers and energetic people who are committed to be a driving force behind stimulating and strengthening the economy and communities in our area.
The Fairview & District Chamber of Commerce has been supporting business and strengthening our community since 1977. We are a non-profit organization created by members for its members. The Chamber staff work in union with a Board of Directors to be the collective voice of business in our community.
The policies and programs of the Chamber are determined by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the membership. Each elected Director will serve a one-year term commencing April 20, 2023.
Responsibilities of the Board
Together with other members of the Board, acting as a whole and speaking with one voice, the Board of Directors is responsible for the stewardship of the Fairview & District Chamber and oversight of the management of the organization. This Board is accountable to the membership and to those who provide funds for the operation of the organization. They are also responsible for determining the vision, mission and strategic direction of the Chamber and for monitoring organizational performance.
Minimum Role Requirements
As a volunteer member of the Board of Directors you would attend regular monthly meetings (generally third Thursday of month @ 12 PM), sit on at least one committee or task force as needed, and be an active participant of Chamber events. Each elected Director (9 in total) will serve a one-year term.
Every board member must demonstrate the following qualities: an interest in the Chamber’s goals; a willingness to expand knowledge of board responsibilities through orientation and ongoing education, and a willingness to represent the Chamber in the community.
Nominee Eligibility
To be eligible for nomination to the Fairview & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors the nominee must be a Chamber Member, in good standing, and a business owner or senior representative.
Nominator Eligibility
To be eligible to nominate a member for the Fairview & District Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors the nominator must be a member, (or authorized representative of a member business) in good standing with the Fairview & District Chamber of Commerce.
For a Nomination Form to be considered valid we require:
* Nominee information & signature
* Nominator Information & signature
* Board Position Being Nominated for: Chair, Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, Director (5)
* Submitted to the Chamber Office no later than Thursday March 9th @ 5 PM
Election Process
The Board of Directors will be voted in by the membership at our Annual General Meeting on March 23, 2023.
